Advent Wreath Candle: Peace

Last week we lit the candle of Hope, remembering the hope which comes in Christ. Today we light the candle of peace which reminds us of the loving peacefulness that comes from God. (Isaiah 40 1-5). As Christmas approaches, we are reminded of the peace that we can all enjoy because of a baby, laying in a manger, the prince of peace; the one who shows us how to carry on into a new life.  Jesus helps us get along with everyone.  Only Jesus, who came to earth to be our Prince of Peace, can give us peace.  In Philippians 4 Paul wrote, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.  And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.” We light this candle in Peace.
