Misty Waters

We awoke to a clear morning, but soon the clouds and fog rolled in. On our way to Bedwell Harbour on Pender Island we stopped to pull up our prawn trap. The Swift caught 13 prawns and a few squat lobsters while the Grace caught 47 prawns. A few ventured to kiss a prawn! Our sail across the water was eerie as we were surrounded by thick fog and had to blow the fog horn every 2 minutes. Once anchored in Bedwell Harbour we ventured out in the dories once again to explore and hike. We hiked for 5.6 kms while climbing 240 metres. Unfortunately, there was still fog at the top of Mt. Norman so we did not get to see the amazing view. This afternoon the trainees completed their final sailing lesson. Several have worked through most of their 6 oral tests and they all write their written test tomorrow. We were all entertained late this afternoon as at least 15 boys and 3 girls braved the chilly waters as they jumped off the shrouds. More plan to participate tomorrow when we get to jump off the rope swing.

The trainees are all doing so well. Each one is having a great time and many new friendships are developing. They have been so much fun and a joy to sail with.
