Budding Journalists

They say it is easiest to write what you know about.  Our Grade 5 students had the opportunity to become journalists and write about their field trip to Samaritan's Purse.  Before going on their field trip, our students learned about newspaper articles, the proper format and evaluated some examples.  To become knowledgable about Samaritan's Purse, the students, armed with their clipboards, asked their tour guides many questions as well as taking note of a quote from someone there.  Their challenge, after returning, was to write a news article about their field trip to Samaritan’s Purse. The article was to include all of the important elements of a news article and it had to be in the correct format.  Here is an excellent example of one of the articles: click here.
